A massive nature installation by artist Pia Sirén (b. 1982) transforms the museum’s Main Hall into something new. Sirén has used construction and renovation materials to create an immersive work of art that is integrated with the architecture of the exhibition space. This installation is a draft of nature and a manifestation of dreams and a yearning for nature. It addresses topical themes without directly identifying environmental issues.
Sirén lives and works in Loviisa, on the south coast of Finland. She received a master’s degree from the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of the Arts Helsinki in 2012. Her works have been presented in galleries and as part of group exhibitions both in Finland and abroad. The Sketch installation is Sirén’s first solo exhibition at a Finnish art museum.
